It’s Saturday, 3:30 PM, and I’m sitting here, clicking around aimlessly. Eric is upstairs, fighting wars or something, and Phillip is at work. The weather is ugly – only 62° – and gray and cloudy. Definitely too cold to be outside and enjoy it. We’ve even decided to cook chili for dinner – it feels that wintery.
Other than that, we had company for most of March. Eric’s Mom and Dad from Indiana and an aunt and uncle from Michigan came to visit and escape the Winter. They were here almost 4 weeks, and it was quite fun. I enjoyed having dinner cooked when I got home from work and to have people around to talk to. The time just flew by. They are all invited back for more of the same next year, but we haven’t heard how they feel about putting up with us again. But just wait – give them a few more cold and snowy months between coming September and February…….
Work is pretty crazy these days. A co-worker is out on medical leave. We expected her to be gone for 2 weeks. That was over 5 weeks ago, and I’m getting tired. But I must say, I learned a lot. When she left, I had not really been trained to handle all she does. I have most of it down pat by now. But I’m getting kind of tired of going in early and staying late and still feeling like I’m way behind and probably have dropped at least one ball that’s about to hit me in the head any moment now. Good thing I thrive on stress and pressure. but what really sucks is that I’ve been wanting to fly to Indiana to see that new grandson of mine. Couldn’t go before early April, since I didn’t have any vacation saved up yet. I used everything I had and then some for Christmas, and need at least 2 days around a weekend. Now Melanie goes back to work next week, already, and I still cannot get any time off due to the missing co-worker. Right now, I’m hoping to make this happen for the Memorial Day weekend.
There’s some more home improvement on the horizon. This house, as much as I like it, came with this ridiculous postage-stamp sized concrete slab as a patio. Way too small for anything but maybe 2 lawn chairs. I was mostly ok with it, since I’m usually outside alone and in the hammock, anyway, but lately, Eric has been hanging out out there, too, and he’s bought a few plants, a fountain, and is trying to spruce things up, but the lack of space just makes everything look cluttered. So we decided to quit talking about it and get it done. I’m hoping to get a couple quotes next week. One problem so – there are frogs (or toads, don’t know the difference – all named ‘Ralph’ – living under the existing slab, and the last thing I want to do is hurt them or cement them in. Does anybody know how to get them to leave on their own? And of course I’m also looking for a good contractor here in town. Somebody suggested Angie’s List, but I’m sorry, that place is just stupid expensive. I’d pay the $6 for one month and then cancel it, but there’s also a $10 set-up fee. No thanks, I’ll take my chances.
Went to JC Penney’s earlier today – they had a sale (of course -I had been waiting for one) – and got a couple swim suits at 40% off. Nope, no pictures. But now I’m ready for the Pool to open, which, to my dismay, isn’t happening until mid-May. Kind of pathetic, if the sun was out, I’d be ready NOW!!!
Yes, there’s absolutely no point to this post, other than that I’m bored, the sun isn’t out, and I haven’t looked if anything is on TV. I could work out on my Pilates Chair, but I’m too tired, or I could listen to the meditation CD that is supposed to regress me to previous lives, but last time I tried, I fell asleep. If I went anywhere, I don’t remember it. So I sit here and type away without rhyme, reason, cause, or purpose……
